Summary posts will be less frequent for a while…

Happy New Year, everyone!

The end of 2021 is a great time to look back on our progress so far. I posted a total of 167 book/article summaries. Fortunately, much of the reading was done in previous years while I researched my book, but I still had to devote a huge amount of my time to this website. And remember that I have not received one penny for doing so.

Second of all, I want to give a huge “Thank You!” to all of you that have been reading my posts. The site has been growing very fast with no end in sight. Between August 2021 and the end of the year, views and visitors have almost quadrupled in four months!

This is very exciting and actually a great surprise to me.

I started this site by posting book summaries that I wrote during the research for my book From Poverty to Progress: How Humans Invented Progress, and How We Can Keep It Going. I had about 1000 pages of notes that I wrote over the course of 5 years to help me remember the main points of each book.

After I published my book, I thought to myself: Maybe there are some other people out there who could also benefit from these summaries. I know that most people live busy lives and reading through entire books is very time-consuming. I believe that we need a better way to get more knowledge out faster. I have also been pleasantly surprised as to how many authors of these books have also been supportive of me posting summaries of their books.

I guess that authors like free advertising!

The downside of all this attention is that I need to shift my time back to writing books, getting them published and leveraging social media to get more attention. That means that I will not be able to post anywhere near the number of summaries that I did in 2021. This saddens me, as I really enjoyed doing so.

I promise, however, I will get back to doing so as quickly as I can.

If you enjoy the summaries on this site, my guess to that you will enjoy reading my book From Poverty to Progress: How Humans Invented Progress, and How We Can Keep It Going.
I am really happy that my book is getting so much attention from respected thinkers, including Steven Pinker, Tyler Cowen, Johan Norberg, Joel Mokyr and many authors with summaries on this website.
